Three Assistive Devices We Love Even Though We Don't Make Them

Check Out These Cool Things I've Seen.

One of the best things about my job is that I get to see all sorts of inventions and innovations when I go to trade shows. Here are some of my favorite things I've spotted from around the world. Note: I have no financial interest in these products, I just like them and want to share.

This is an IndeeLift. It is used when someone falls on the floor. Getting an adult person off of the floor is very difficult. Most seniors who fall really struggle to get up at all. This product can be easily rolled to where the person is. They can easily be positioned onto the floor-height platform, and then lifted up to a high, seated position. It's a great invention that I think all senior care facilities should look into.

The sit-to-stand lift is genius. A simple device that can get someone from seated to a supported standing position quickly and easily. There are many sit to stand lifts. The one pictures is available here. I love them all. So much freedom, so easily.

We owe it all to Ted Hoyer who was not only a patient but the inventor of the mobile patient lift. In 1949 Ted and his cousin invented a way to get Ted out of bed and moved around. They began selling them in 1950 and the rest as they say is history.
